The Highly Integrated HART Feature from Rockwell Automation
The Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) protocol is the world’s largest network. This protocol allows you to read feedback (such as readings of process variables) and write data (such as device commands) to an analog input instrument. Rockwell Automation® has optimized the use of this protocol with the Highly Integrated HART (HIH) Logix feature. Within Studio 5000 Logix Designer®, this functionality gives users visible access to all their connected HART devices. Simplify communication, programming and configuration processes between your field devices and PLC with HIH functionality.
In Studio 5000, on the I/O configuration tree, there is a representation of your devices’ connection fault status. You can also view integrated device information and add/replace HART devices while you are online with the controller through auto-discovery, which automatically creates all the device’s contextual tags. Scaling and alarms can be configured in Studio 5000 inside the I/O module for precise device tag diagnostics and event reporting.
Studio 5000 modules (such as the Compact 5000® Isolated Analog HART I/O 5069 modules and FLEX 5000® HART I/O 5094 modules) leverage HIH to ease the configuration process significantly, enabling you to learn which HART devices are attached to the channels and then route individual message instructions directly to that device. Process devices can also be configured via Add-on Profiles (AOP) available for download from the Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC). No matter the application, the HIH feature makes it easy to access as much information as you need, whether that includes all the dynamic variables and HART pass-through information or only certain regularly monitored parameters.
