In this "Our People" spotlight, we talk to Ben Arcenaux, a warehouse manager in Lafayette, Louisiana, about what drives him and what his hopes are for our industry.
How long have you been at The Reynolds Company?
"I have been with Reynolds for 13 years."
Why did you choose this industry?
"I actually did not choose this industry. A friend said they heard that Evans Electric was looking for a warehouse hand, I applied and was hired. So 10 years and two electrical companies later, I was offered the job of Warehouse Manager when Reynolds expanded here in Louisiana. I accepted and here I am."
What is one of your favorite things about your job?
"My favorite thing about my job is actually a process. I like the process of dropping an order, pulling, packing, and shipping. For me this is a tangible sign of completed task. A close second would be the people I work with. There are 6 of us who have been working together for over 20 years (from Evans.) We all know each other’s families, children, and now grandchildren. We also have a great bunch of “newcomers”. I also like the fact that I can call on people outside of our branch for help and they are always ready to lend a hand."
What drives you?
"I am driven by two things. 1. Is to do my job to the best of my ability, so my customers both internal and external are happy. 2. Is to pay my bills."
What is one of your favorite memories of being at The Reynolds Company?
"My favorite memory of being here at Reynolds is having our branch named “Branch of the Year” for the first time in 2009. Both Walt and Don Reynolds came to Lafayette and took us out to supper. THAT I will never forget."
